The Unruliness of God’s Growth

Last night we had Community Group.  I just felt the overwhelming sense that God was in this place.  Every seat we own was used. Even other objects were used as seats.

In 1 Corinthians 3:7, Paul notes, “So neither he who plants and he who waters is anything, but only God who gives the growth”.

Like weeds, God has a way of growing our group in an unplanned, unorganized, and completely unruly way.  And, when I allow him into my life, he has a way of beautifully wrecking my preconceived notions of a carefully orchestrated, safe, and insular life.

When I allow him in – growth is absurdly great. I am used in ways I never imagined.  I am called to talk to my neighbor upstairs, and invite her into my home.  I am called to have relationship with a family of a different ethnicity and economic status. I’m called to use every inch of this 1,000 square foot apartment to tell others about Jesus.

I pray I never resist the goodness of God’s growth.
