In James 2:5 it says “If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask God, who gives generously to all without reproach and it will be given him. But let him ask in faith, with no doubting, for the one who doubts is like a wave of the sea that is driven and tossed by the wind.”
As I read this this morning, I said a prayer for wisdom. In our community group I desire to be a leader who knows the scripture, who can lead others closer to Christ. Yet, a thought hit me this morning that I think is of God so I wanted to share:
“Wisdom isn’t the knowledge of God, it is the understanding of God”.
If I simply obtain knowledge of God and the Scriptures, I’m just like the Pharisees who completely missed the point. However, if my heart is toward understanding who God is and worshipping him – I will be hungry for the word of God, eager to pray, and my overall knowledge will increase from learning who he is. When I lead others it will be impossible to twist and bend the gospel.
My prayer today is that I could have increased faith that would lead to a better understanding of God, which would lead to increased faith.
