Renewal

on

After the craziness of last week, I never really updated on God’s goodness.

Maundy Thursday was a long day, but it was a day that I saw the light at the end of the tunnel at work (at least a glimpse of it).  All of the sections in our proposal were turned into design and I felt comfortable enough to take Good Friday off.

And so I did.  And Billy and I spent time together that day reading our new book, “The Discipline of Grace” in a coffee shop for the first part of the morning and then moved on to do girly things like visiting the container store.  Then we moved into a weekend with the church and serving beside some of our closest friends here in Raleigh.

Between a Good Friday service, an Easter Egg Hunt, a Saturday night worship service, dying Easter eggs and hanging out with friends, waking up and serving at the church service, and then going over to eat Easter food – you’d think I’d be exhausted and ward off anything dealing with the church or God for a while.

Yet somehow I feel renewed.  Just when I felt so distant and totally off track, the weekend comes with a whirlwind of activities.  I see how the people in my bible study are growing and learning to serve.  I walk around at the Easter egg hunt and I’m reunited with a family that we helped a few months ago that I’ve completely dropped the ball on.  I look out and see Raleigh Memorial Auditorium almost completely full of people worshiping and I see a glimpse of what heaven will be like.  I go over to eat Easter lunch and I’m reminded that I am blessed with a church family, even when my own is miles apart.

I am amazed at what a renewing God we have.  He’s always about bringing us closer to knowing and seeing him.  Though I fall short over and over, with grace he picks me up, gives me something to do, and lets me get a glimpse more of who he is.
